4. Dexter Will Kill Himself
There are two ways this could very well happen... either Dexter will see no way out, with the police force closing in on him that he decides he would rather take his own life than be revealed to the entire world and be made the biggest news story in history which in reality is very, very likely. Considering Dexter is a private person, I can't imagine he would really love or be able to handle all this attention. The other way is if he were to be arrested and sent to jail... because Dexter expressed in the last episode to air that he probably couldn't face life in prison, it isn't unlikely that he would end up taking his life behind bars. That said, I really don't think killing yourself is a great way to end a show. It's a bit of an anti-climax for starters and doesn't really send a great message to the viewing public. Also, to all those who believe Dexter should be made to suffer for his mass murders (remember Dexter hasn't only killed murderers... he has killed or attempted to kill some innocent people as well) suicide is an easy price to pay. Plus, it is actually a little out of character. We have never really seen Dexter feel that much remorse for his crimes, but we have seen him on occasion struggle for his life. Clearly, unlike Walter White (arguably), Dexter wants to live, and even loves life to an extent. That all said, if Dexter were to kill himself it would actually be pretty poetic. Dexter's whole mission statement from the start was that he only killed serial killers. If Dexter were to do some real soul searching and realize that he himself is at least as bad as most of the people he had killed, then perhaps he will see his death as necessary and in keeping with his code. Maybe Dexter killing himself, the greatest serial killer to have ever lived, will be his last great victory and gift to the world. Put like this, I could easily see this as a way to end the show, however something would certainly have to make him decide this is what is best for him- most likely his impending arrest.
