Dexter: 8 Possible Fates for Dexter Morgan

3. Dexter will be Killed by the Season's Big Bad

This is always a likely option considering Dexter has been pretty lucky to have survived in all his previous encounters with the main serial killers he has been hunting. Though arguably a little anti-climactic, why shouldn't one of the villains get the upper-hand on Dexter and end up ending his own life- it would actually be a pretty fair way to end the show. Luck runs out eventually, and this would be the ultimate lesson for Dexter that will prove once and for all that he isn't invincible. We don't really know all that much about the Big Bad in Season 7 or his intentions, but if the other seasons are any indication, this villain will be dead and gone by the end of the current season, and a new villain will likely be introduced. What if the new villain was "Dexter 2.0"- another killer who decided it was his job to kill all serial killers, and what if Dexter was his biggest pray. Being killed by someone who followed the same codes as you did , although stuck to them a lot better would teach Dexter an important lesson. Dexter also could only really have respect for this killer, because if Dexter wasn't Dexter, he would probably kill himself also. The thing is, the rest of the series shows that the main villains never win, and villains hardly ever, if actually at all win on television. It would be surprising for Dexter to meet his death at the hands of a Big Bad, though this is exactly what makes this option seem the most exciting. If Dexter is killed by a police officer or is sent to jail (or even kills himself) these aren't exactly the most interesting ways to end a show and are very predictable. Being killed by the main series protagonist is almost unheard of for a lead character, and this would make Dexter's finale episode really stand out from other TV shows. If Dexter is to meet his end by a Big Bad, the Big Bad in Season 8 will have to be a truly incredible villain, and unfortunately Dexter isn't the greatest show at making truly great villains. Most, if not all have actually kind of been a bit of a disappointment, and I don't have much faith in what I've seen so far in Season 7 to suggest the villain will be any better here.

I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
