Disenchantment: 7 Things Season 2 Must Do

6. More King Zog

Disenchantment Season 2
Netflix

As with most John DiMaggio characters, the ill tempered king stole the show first time around. It’s understandable that certain characters blew hot and cold in the first season, what with the writers still getting to grips with everything. But King Zog barely stumbled at all in his appearances, and the show would do well to shine the spotlight on him even more.

That may have been the plan all along, too. Zog’s role grew with each episode, really picking up steam in second half. We learned the potion he’d been making from Elfo’s blood was not a ploy for more power, but a desperate attempt to revive his late wife Dagmar.

When his wife returns of course, things don’t exactly go to plan. The season ended on a cliffhanger and while Zog isn’t the star, he is the most connected character in the show. Dagmar, Bean, Oona and Elfo are all tied to him, as well as his obvious power as king.

His comedy is more than enough reason to want more Zog in future seasons, but it seems like he might just be crucial to the narrative too.
