8. Sean Harris
Harris would be a different approach offered by the theatricality of Weaving, and the thespian credentials of John Hurt. The Prometheus star has quietly made a name for himself in character driven roles since catching the attention in Michael Winterbottom's 24 Hour Party People as tragic Joy Division singer Ian Curtis. Since then, the flame-haired, versatile actor has made a name for himself in hard-hitting TV dramas like Southcliffe, and Meadowlands, and scoring a particularly impressive success as killer Ian Brady in See No Evil: The Moors Murders. Considering his association with British TV, it is odd that Harris hasn't yet appeared in the show, but then, his on-screen presence could perhaps be a little too edgy and dark for other characters. But with the very particular demands of The Valeyard as an instantly iconic villain, that presence could be a huge benefit. Plus, there's also the odd quirk that Harris seems only to play characters with a single name, like Fifield (Prometheus,) and Hale (Brighton Rock,) and upcoming roles as Campbell (Serena) and Womack (The Goob) making The Valeyard a good fit.
