Doctor Who: 10 Best Ways To Regenerate

4. Take Advantage Of The Plot Holes... Literally

It has been established that there are cracks in our universe that lead outside of it, and the latest episode that Gallifrey is somewhere beyond at least one of them. Well, if things can be hidden on the other side, what else might come through? These could include not only some truly weird, fearsome creatures, perhaps friend or foes or even strange combinations of the two, but even alternate Doctors from alternate timelines €“ Doctors who may have different ideas of what "the right thing" might actually be €“ could bring their TARDISes through the holes. Of course, this also gives some other fun options for crazy alternate universe stories in the process, like one in which the Thals were the aggressors, and the Daleks merely doing their best to survive, or in which the Beneficent Intelligence sent its Yeti out to help the Tibetans against the advancing Chinese Army. It worked really well in the original series' story, Inferno, and it can truly highlight aspects of characters that are completely unexpected. For that matter, there's still the question of how the TARDIS exploded in the first place, causing those cracks to exist, yet nobody seems to remember. Now, it could be that we could take it as read that the Silence themselves had the Doctor sabotage his own TARDIS, an event that he had forgotten, and that would be a great minisode in which the new Doctor ends up walking through a log of the event, especially given the trauma of this latest regeneration. They could call it "Remind Me."
