Doctor Who: 10 Creepiest Corners Of Steven Moffat’s Mind
4. DVD Extras Can (And Occasionally Do) Contain Messages From The Future...
According to Mr. Moffat, if you look through your DVD collection, youre actually liable to find seemingly unconnected portions of a conversation that you havent had yet. These (very) special features are, in fact, messages from the future, directed at the past. Actually, they come from the past, but they pertain to the future...Whatever. Lets just start over, shall we? Unlike most other anomalies in Steven Moffats universe, these Improbable Easter Eggs (which probably wasnt the episodes working title) arent actually trying to kill you (and they havent already succeeded in killing you either), they are, in fact, trying to stop you being zapped into the past by an ages-old enemy that is all around you. So, the next time you mention something aloud when watching a DVD, be warned, because you may get a response. Season 3s episode Blink not only gave us the debut of perhaps the most memorable monsters of the modern era, but it was also a rather insightful (not to mention deeply scary) satire of obsessive fandom and the bonus disc culture to which we all seem to belong these days. ...But the Easter Eggs arent the only madness of King Moffat moments in that particular episode, which conveniently brings us to the next point...
I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction.
I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long!
If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it).
I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work.
Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that!
Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?)
Latcho Drom,
