Notable Work: Kick-Ass, The Woman in Black, X-Men: First Class Arguably the coolest writer in Britain working today. Goldman's scripts spark off the page, crackling with ingenuity, wit and heart. Plus, she's a massive nerd which is a great bonus. Goldman is the perfect blend of edgy and populist that the show needs. Her work on Stardust is a good indicator of the kind of tone she might strike if hired to write for Doctor Who. Goldman has stated before that she's a massive fan and would be worried of writing for something she adores. But as her star power increases and she produces classic after classic, it seems more likely she'd be willing to challenge herself and give the audience a unique episode or two. Her Stardust pal Neil Gaiman has already given it a shot, and at least with The Doctor's Wife proved to be a very safe bet. Whilst it's pointless comparing the two, perhaps Goldman might give us more of a horror-orientated episode closer in tone to The Woman in Black than her comic book movie fare. Then again, we may just get a far more comedic episode from Goldman- since its revival, the Doctor Who episodes that have been totally light-hearted and knockabout in tone have more often than not been awful. But with Goldman at the helm, it seems likely Moffat & co would have a winner on their hands.
