And finally, the big one: the unanswered mystery that has fuelled Doctor Who fans since Series 5. But Steven Moffat claims that he'll answer this one at Christmas, even though he's already said that it was the Silence. Assuming that their main goal was to ensure that "Silence will fall when the question is answered", and assuming that means "We don't want the Doctor to answer the question "Doctor who?" when the Great Intelligence try breaking into his tomb", that suggests that the Silence were trying to blow up the universe to save it from the Great Intelligence turning every one of the Doctor's victories to defeats. Basically, they wanted to prevent a universe without the Doctor. But that was before we knew they were returning; if the question was "Doctor who?" then why are they back? It's more complex than we originally thought, or more simple, giving the convoluted way with which the last paragraph unravelled. Do you have any answers to any of these though?
