This ones definitely the biggest question since the answer influences both the true fate of the Half-Face Man and the real identity of Missy. But apart from it being filmed in the same location as the garden scenes from The Girl Who Waited (2011), all we know about this place is that (according to Missy), it is Heaven. Until proven wrong, were calling bull on this one. Doctor Who never does the afterlife. As far as Russell T. Davies was concerned, in the Whoniverse there is no heaven or hell. Just blackness. And Steven Moffat seems to be following this train of thought, with the Doctor slamming down the Half-Face Mans pursuit of the Promised Land as a delusion brought on by stuffing so much humanity into himself. So if it isnt Heaven, the question remains of just what this place is. Given the presence of Missy and the Cybermen in the series finale, the most likely answer is that it somehow ties into the Cybermens plans. Perhaps being a false paradise that robots from across the universe are being drawn to, Then again, since both the Doctor and Moffat lie, it could just as easily be the Whoniverse's version of the afterlife that inspired various religions much like the reveal that the Beast in Series 2 influenced the Christian image of Satan. What about the first episode of Series 8 got you thinking? Have any theories about these questions? Let us know in the comments section below...
