Doctor Who: 10 Things Series 8 Must Do To Be The Best Yet

4. Find A Villain For The Ages

Whilst it is true that every era of Doctor Who has challenges and opportunities where villains are concerned, the pool of existing recurring villains feels especially exhausted as Capaldi takes his turn at the console. Someone certainly has the task of adding onto the storied history of the Daleks and other truly iconic Whoniverse baddies; however the best possible villain development for series eight is the addition of one more magnificent Moffat monster. Both the Weeping Angels and the Silents as special creations of showrunner Steven Moffat, had their own layers of narrative during these past few series. Now that these arcs have rather tidily concluded, series eight would feel emptier without a signature monster of its own to take their place. Finding new foes for the Doctor has been a place where Moffat's talent shines brightest, and hopefully he has at least one more rattling around in that curly-coiffed head of his to challenge the Twelfth Doctor.
