Doctor Who: 10 Times The Doctor Shouldn't Have Bothered With Mercy

7. Genesis Of Mercy

The Doctor is, arguably, at his most merciful in "Genesis of the Daleks". Tasked, by the Time Lords, in going to Skaro to stop the Daleks from ever existing, The Doctor meets Davros, the newly introduced creator of the Daleks, in great scenes discussing the evil future the creator's creatures have in store. The Doctor ultimately gets the chance to end the Daleks for good by putting two wires together. But instead,hHe questions himself and his right to commit genocide. Sarah Jane Smith encourages him to do so but he claims he'd be no better than a Dalek to do such a thing. He even gets a second chance at exterminating them for good, due to the Daleks overpowering their creator and vowing to be become supreme beings. Eventually, The Doctor destroys the incubator room halting their progress by a thousand years or so feeling out of all their evil something good must come out of it. Knowing what you've seen of the Daleks, would you have made that same choice?
