Doctor Who: 10 Times The Doctor Shouldn't Have Bothered With Mercy
2. A Journey's End To Mercy
The final entry for the Tenth Doctor, on this list, comes from the epic final story of series four. Davros has returned and has stolen 27 planets, including Earth, to create a reality bomb to destroy all of... reality. A new race of Daleks, made from the flesh of their creator, have ravaged the stolen planets to conquer them all. The usual trail of death and destruction from the inhabitants of Skaro. The Doctor, with the help of his back catalogue of recent friends and a newly formed Doctor-Donna, is able to defeat Davros and his Daleks, leaving them spinning around The Crucible. Just as the base begins to disintegrate, The Tenth Doctor's merciful side appears once more reaching out a hand to Davros in an attempt to save him. Davros refuses, ironically naming The Doctor as "The destroyer of worlds". Now there's gratitude. Davros succumbed to his (apparent) death anyway, but that act of mercy was not befitting of an incarnation who, in his first appearance ("The Christmas Invasion"), said he was a "no second chances" sort of a man. Four appearances on this list of mercy is a bit of stretch for a man who used such a statement to introduce himself.
