Doctor Who: 11 Things We'll Miss About The Eleventh Doctor

2. His Fashion Choices

Eleven Fashion Unusual fashion choices have always been an identifying factor of the Doctor, the Ninth Doctor withstanding. When the Eleventh Doctor had his first full premiere in The Eleventh Doctor, he was wearing the tattered clothing of his predecessor for most of the episode. It wasn't until his face-off with the Atraxi that he came up with his new look. Tweed jacket, black trousers, ankle-high boots, but most importantly, the bow tie. Inspired by the Second Doctor, the bow time became the signature item of the Eleventh Doctor's look. While the style and color of his clothing would change as the seasons passed, the bow tie was the constant factor, and his consistent affirmation that "Bow ties are cool" even led to increase in sales of bow ties in real life. Talk about product placement. However, his fashion wear didn't end with the bow tie. One of Eleven's most recognizable quirks was to try on other types of fashion items, particularly headwear. The most famous hat of his was the fez, which he discovered in a museum in The Big Bang. Although that fez was promptly destroyed by River and Amy, he managed to find several others to wear throughout the seasons, and even stated that a fez was part of his conditions to help out the White House in The Impossible Astronaut. He also wore a stetson in late season 6 while he was trying to figure out who the Silence wore, and the Stetson popped up again in the episode A Town Called Mercy. Other fashion choices included his old-fashioned tuxedo, reading glasses (which the Fifth and Tenth Doctors also had), and even monk robes, although he later said that monks were not cool. Basically, Eleven had style, and style is cool.
