Doctor Who: 12 Qualities To Make The 12th Doctor Awesome

Peter Capaldi This Christmas I will be both a blubbering ruin of a man, rocking back and forth on the sofa mumbling €˜Geronimo€™ at random intervals, but I will also be excited beyond any known comprehension, full of eager anticipation. For the day will mark the departure of Matt Smith€™s Eleventh Doctor, the whimsical mad man with a box, who seems to have no control over any of his limbs, but in turn we will be introduced to the dashing silver fox that is Peter Capaldi, complete with those menacing eyes, as the Twelfth incarnation of the Time Lord begins his journey through time and space. Now, Matt Smith has been a revelation and truly incredible in the role, delivering a very assured and old-school performance full of quirks and pathos, for me he€™s the best Doctor of this revived series. He€™s €˜Mr. Cool€™, the bumbling best friend of Amy and Rory Pond one moment, running from vampires in Venice and larking about on a pirate ship, but the next he€™s the deadly old man, sentencing Solomon to his death and confronting his own on Trenzalore against the Great Intelligence. Oh, Mr. Smith is pretty darn faultless. Although arguably suffering the same fate David Tennant did during his tenure, of playing up to the idiosyncrasies of his Doctor and becoming a bit of a caricature of himself, he will certainly be a hard act to follow. So it€™s just as well we have Peter Capaldi stepping into the TARDIS. Lucky us! But what can Mr. Capaldi do to truly become one of the greats, to stand alongside the mighty Tom Baker and to really embrace the role and cement himself as a definitive Doctor? If only there was a compiled list of around 12 qualities detailing just that. If only...
