Doctor Who: 12 Steven Moffat Quotes You Might Not Have Heard
6. On Companions...
Why is it that whenever a new companion is announced, the new actor, the writers and the official statement from the BBC all declare the new character to be... "Feisty"? It's the most overused adjective in the history of Who, and despite so many critics arguing that his companions don't even have personalities anymore, Moffat's shed some interesting light on the faces that have travelled with the Doctor. Please be aware though, the last one about Rose is probably a joke.
"Surely the point about Jack is that he is so totally relaxed about sex that it isn't part of his character at all - no hang ups, no problem. Writing Jack I found I had to have the other characters (the Doctor and Rose) talk about his epically flexible sexuality, rather than him - because for him it's background noise. All he'd do is shrug and ask what the big deal is."
