Doctor Who: 20 Genius DeviantART Creations You Need In Your Life

1. Imperial Hoverbouts Over A Strange Sea

By: Jim197 I didn't have to look far to find this one, because I must confess to being a semi-regular visitor to James Parker's portfolio for the past few years. He has rendered his own version of the incredible tv21 gold Emperor Dalek elsewhere and if you know what I'm talking about, have a look through his portfolio to find it. The reason I selected this one in favour of that is because this picture depicts an awesome setting. The Imperial Daleks shown here float in the crystal air over a perfect alien sea. They ride upon hoverbouts, (another tv21 memory), and you just know they are on a mission. The contrast of sunlight on burnished gold against the eternal blueness of the scene is memorable. The picture depicts a place that doesn't exist, at least not to my knowledge, but nevertheless evokes a feeling that you know what it would be like to breathe that air and hear the water lapping around you. It's a proper, dare I say old-fashioned Sci-Fi picture. It's all at once beautiful, but with a tinge of alien menace. That menace doesn't just emanate from the creatures, but from the overwhelming feeling that as watchers we have entered the vista as strangers in a strange land.
