Doctor Who: 5 More Predictions For 50th Anniversary Special

4. The Tenth Doctor

David Hwo1

There ain't no party without David Tennant's Tenth Doctor so I think we were all pleased to see him appear in on-set photos with Billie Piper and a very beautifully dressed Joanna Page but where in his timeline does this Doctor come from, and is it really the Tenth Doctor? Well there are three possibilities being thrown around. Firstly, a rather logical assumption would be to say that he is the early Tenth Doctor, hailing from his time traveling with Rose Tyler, after all she is featuring in the episode. However, if you took the time to read my previous installment on this list then I think you'll know why I find this doubtful. I don't think that Rose will be appearing in this story so much as the Bad Wolf entity tweaking the time-line as she so enjoys doing. Secondly, we might be able to assume that this is in fact the human Doctor who ran off in his blue suit at the end of 'Journey's End' (Series 4, Episode 13). I've seen quite a few people bandy about the idea that he has returned to our universe to help out and warn of impending danger! However, I think there could be nothing less satisfying than the promise of The Tenth Doctor only to be payed off with the appearance of a clone, human replica thing. Would you watch a spin-off series about the Flesh version of the Eleventh Doctor filing bills for the Morpeth-Jetsen corporation? Actually that's a brilliant idea but you get my point. It's no fun if it isn't the Doctor. Finally, the Tenth Doctor has one fascinating, unexplored section of his history that would have made for an excellent special in 2009 - the time between 'The Waters of Mars' (Specials 2) and 'The End of Time' (Specials 3 and 4) which he spends irreverently avoiding the fact of his inevitable upcoming regeneration. He exits the TARDIS on the Ood home-world in stetson and Hawaiian, luau flower necklace talking about the great time he's been having. One of the things that he mentions is the implication of 'de-flowering' Queen Elizabeth I. Joanna Page is playing Queen Elizabeth I. It would be so much fun to get to see this part of the Doctor's history being filled in, so much fun to see the Eleventh Doctor have to deal with two parts of his history that he is most ashamed of whilst trying to save the day.
