Doctor Who: 5 Things Ben Wheatley Could Bring To Series 8

Ben Wheatley With Series eight looming, we€™re all beginning to get a little twitchy. A new Doctor means a new atmosphere, new ways to react to things €“ plus Moffat saying that there are going to be a darker and gritter aspects isn€™t helping matters. What gives us a bit of an idea of where Moffat€™s head is €“ though, Britain may not be exactly soothed by the news €“ is the fact that Ben Wheatley will be directing the first two episodes of Peter Capaldi€™s time as the Doctor. While Wheatley is known for his thrillers and violent films, this will give the show exactly what we need with a new Doctor €“ new eyes. New eyes for the Doctor, and new eyes for the show €“ at least for two episodes. And while there may be a worry that the episodes will be too scary, it brings us back to the 1960s era of Who when British people talk about hiding behind their couches because of what was going on the screen. Before I list what Ben Wheatley will bring to Doctor Who, the best thing he will bring is an idea of what it has been over fifty years. He€™s been quoted as saying that he is a lifelong fan, and that€™s the most important in making New Who, making sure that you have people who can incorporate the best of both eras of Who together.
