Doctor Who: 5 Things Season 8 Must Avoid

A few things we hope to see a lot less of as Peter Capaldi brings his steely eyed grimace into the Tardis.

Now that the dust has finally settled on the Matt Smith era as everybody's favourite time lord and we're left with a magnificently angry looking Scotsman in his place, it's time for us to consider a few of the things the show can now do without. It's probably not unfair to say that in Smith's tenure as the Doctor, the show had become significantly more child-friendly. Now whilst I'm not saying that his spell was awful (far from it, there were some truly brilliant story arcs in there), the Smith era acted as a summation of things to avoid if you're wanting the series to be taking fully seriously as a sci-fi serial. Obviously it's hoping too much for the Doctor to go on a Malcolm Tucker-inspired foul-mouthed tirade to be see anywhere in his newest adventures, but instead, here are some of the slightly more realistic things we can at least hope to see a lot less of as Peter Capaldi brings his steely eyed grimace into the Tardis.
