The Sixth Doctor
18. Was The 6th Doctor Really Forced To Regenerate By "Tumultuous Buffeting?"
Considering the last time we saw Colin Baker's Doctor he was being cajoled by Bonnie Langford into subsisting on a diet of carrot juice and engaging in vigorous use of a stationary bike (seen in the background on the Tardis floor as he regenerates). It could be said that one of the finest actors to play the Doctor received the most ignominious death in the history of the Doctor Who franchise. As if being saddled with a costume that viewers needed ear plugs just to look at, having his Doctor die from apparently bumping his head on the Tardis console after falling off an exercise bike was the final indignity. The novelisation cited the 6th Doctor's cause of death as "tumultuous buffeting." As if that was any better. Outside of the official canon the 6th Doctor received a heroic send off in the book Spiral Scratch, while elsewhere it was theorized that 6 was bumped off by the conniving 7th Doctor in an effort to get an early start on his time championing schemes.
