36. How Did The Daleks Recognize The 2nd Doctor?
While never explained in The Power of the Daleks, the simplest answer is that these Daleks had encountered the 2nd Doctor later in his personal timeline, yet it is implied in this episode that the Daleks just sense that this is their hated enemy. In later encounters with the Daleks The Doctor is either immediately recognized or has to tell them who he is depending on the story.
35. What Was The Encounter With The Cybermen On Planet 14?
In "The Invasion," The Cyber Planner tells human collaborator Tobias Vaughn that the 2nd Doctor and companion Jamie McCrimmon had encountered the Cybermen on Planet 14 before the current episode's events. There had been no adventure depicted on screen, before or since that explained this secret encounter with the Cybermen. Grant Morrison attempted to answer this mystery in the Doctor Who Magazine comic strip, "The World Shapers. " Morrison portrayed a team-up between the 6th Doctor and a now elderly Jamie. During the course of the adventure, it is revealed that Planet 14 was actually Marinus, home world of the Voord from "The Keys of Marinus," who eventually evolved into Cybermen. This story which includes the final fate of Jamie is a good read, but has never been considered canon.
