Doctor Who: 8 Reasons The Master Is Definitely Coming Back

2. It's About Time We Saw Another Version Of The Master

Not a rumour, more a fact. With recurring villains the Daleks and Cybermen continuing to haunt the Eleventh Doctor and the SIlurians and Ice Warriors reinvented for modern Who, the Master remains one of the few primary antagonists absent from his centuries-long life. Fans still lament that Derek Jacobi only got to play the Master for about five minutes, because those five minutes were everything we wanted the Master to be. Evil, sadistic, dripping with venom and intelligence; the truth is he outdid everything that John Simm did, even if the latter was a great crazy mirror to Tennant's manic Doctor. While audiences has seen different Doctors and different companions in the last decade, they haven't seen much in the way of different Masters so now is the time to change that. It is hard to image John Simm's Master facing up against Capaldi's Doctor so we need someone who is colder, ruthless and older in appearance. In other words, Charles Dance is the perfect choice.
