Doctor Who: Why The Fourth Doctor Really Would Make A Great Art Curator

3. He's Got Friends In The Art World

Warholtardis As the business with the Mona Lisa at its point of origin shows, the Doctor has friends in many circles, art proving no different. And can the curator of the Tate Modern claim to be on good terms with Leonardo Da Vinci? Such contacts would surely make UNIT one of the places to be for connoisseurs & hipsters alike if they needed a source of weekend income- what better way than to throw open the gallery and exhibit carefully selected examples of a catalogue of Earth's greatest artists, we say. After all how do we know the Doctor didn't have a sudden burst of inspiration & make it his mission to safeguard a few choice bits of art? He could even have sneaked a few of his own works in there. We all know he could probably have done a better job of sketching Romana II than that man in the cafe. He most likely just didn't want to brag, or was saving himself for a 'paint me, Doctor' moment with his muse in the safety of the TARDIS drawing room. Maybe knowing Romana's intellect, she could have sketched him for a life-drawing project with nothing but that iconic scarf to preserve his modesty. After all the brush never lies and the palette of secret love is rich and varied. Maybe if one or both were lucky the level of detail would be increased if the artist switched to Gallifreyan computer painting should they decide their relationship's ready for it- ah, Time Lord love.
