Doctor Who: A Retrospective Of The Anniversary Year (Part 2)

The Science Of Doctor Who

Science Of Doctor Who The 14th November had two treats in store for us UK fans. First was Paul McGann. Secondly we had Professor Brain Cox (who appeared as himself in series 7's 'The Power Of Three' attempting to explain The Science Behind Doctor Who to us mere mortals. And what a treat it was. Just how possible is it time travel into the future? Theoretically it is, though not in our life time. Can we detect aliens on other worlds?Well, the chances are surprisingly high and we may be close to finding out. (It's all about gasses and refracted light). And can we harness a black hole (as in the Eye Of Harmony) to travel back in time? Well, sort of. It was a fascinating look into the possibilities of science. Can we time travel? Well, according to Brain Cox, we already are. What made it so enjoyable was that Brain Cox had a few famous 'friends' to participate in his experiments. Rufus Hound walking into a black hole and freezing? (or turning to spaghetti, depending on how you looked at it). Charles Dance reliving his psychedelic punk era by spraying chemicals through a bunsen burner just to demonstrate how we can search for alien life. It was a lot of fun...and very cool. And to top of this treat we had three clips with Brian Cox and our current Doctor (Smith not McGann!) onboard the Tardis. Just a look at this little snippet of joy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVJctwjlZvs And so, just over a week a way to the 50th (as a wrote this), is the 50th anniversary celebration stepping up a gear? Absolutely! And there's still a lot more fun to come!
