Is the woman in the shop Missy, the cracked Mary Poppins figure whos appeared to dead people in episodes one and two of the new season? Weve already talked about who this might be internet scuttlebutt (like gossip, but with big boy trousers on) says that English television mainstay Michelle Gomez is playing a mysterious figure called the Gatekeeper Of The Nethersphere. The word Nethersphere conjures up connotations of the land of the dead, and the ferryman that brought dead souls on to their reward, something that seems to fit the character as it stands except that, one scene after the 12th Doctor tells Clara that hes not her boyfriend, we have a clearly utterly hatstand woman confidently claiming him to be her other half. Now, Michelle Gomez does utterly hatstand better than anyone else alive, and Missy is certainly not the new River Song. Were riveted to this. How is the scariest Doctor of all time going to react to being claimed by a loony psychopomp dressed like a Victorian governess? Only time will tell.
