The concept: The Sixth Doctor and Peri run into Anzor, a Time Lord the Doctor knew from school and did not have fond memories of. They escape from him and wind up on the distant world of Magnus. There they encounter the Ice Warriors, and the sinister, chortling alien known as Sil. How far along: At least a completed script, from what we can tell. This is another story that was also turned into both a novel and an audio play by Big Finish, so clearly there was a fair amount of it that was complete. Why it was never made: This was another casualty of the 1986 woes. In this case, the actual story that wound up being used as part of the Trial of a Time Lord arc ended up being Mindwarp, which was written by the same author and also featured the return of Sil, as well as the departure of Peri. Why its on the list: LookMindwarp had a lot going for it. Its one of many peoples favorite 6th Doctor stories, and it also features Sil, who is one of many peoples favorite characters. Butwell, frankly, this is a better story. The Ice Warriors would have come back, and it would have been great to see them again. Plus the character of Anzor seems massively entertaining. The eventual fate: As mentioned above, both a novel and an audio play, which among other things, featured the return of Nabil Shaban as Sil; something which made many people very happy, since no one else can do that laugh quite like he can. Well, unless theyre part murloc.
