Doctor Who: 10 Best Episodes To Encourage New Fans

7. The Time Meddler

time meddler The Time Meddler is a great story for anyone who's got a bit of a thing for history. It's set in 1066, in the days prior to the Battle of Hastings, when the Norman invasion of Britain changed the cultural landscape forever. It features a fantastically eccentric villain in the Meddling Monk, who seems to like nothing better than to mess with the natural order of things. Through the exploits of the Monk, the implications of trying to change fixed points in time are addressed. The serial also has some darker elements that are true to the time period, as well -- the scene where the Norman scouts come across Edith has seriously unpleasant, sinister undertones, especially for 1965 teatime viewing.
