Silver Nemesis: 1968! Nothing gets the British viewer's pulse racing quite like the sight of the Doctor's second most famous mortal enemy popping out of a manhole, not to mention taking a sinister stroll outside St Paul's Cathedral. Series Eight's two part finale paid homage to Derrick Sherwin and Kit Pedler's eight part actioner, but this was the original Cyber-incursion, and the best. It saw Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor up against the dark side of British industry, fighting wicked white-haired sociopath Tobias Vaughn, who sought to consolidate his capitalist ambitions by joining forces with the handlebar-headed horrors. The megalomaniac soon learned even his business brain couldn't get the upper hand when it came to cold Mondasian logic. Resembling a picture postcard gone terrifyingly wrong, The Invasion wasn't the first time Doctor Who monsters appeared on the streets of the capital. Yet for the sheer chill factor of humanity coming face to face with an emotionless glimpse of a possible future it's tough to beat.
