5. The Stolen Earth/Journey's End
Also known as the Doctor Who finale to end them all. And what a finale it was! The worlds of Doctor Who and its spin offs, Torchwood and Sarah Jane, collided for a botched regeneration, the return of the Doctor's most faithful friends, the destruction of reality itself at the hands of Davros and his almighty army of Daleks and the heartbreaking departure of one of NuWho's most popular companions to date. Oh, Donna. We hardly knew ye. Seriously, though. It doesn't get much bigger than this. In fact, the ensuing drama was so stupendously spectacular that Journey's End secured one of the show's highest ratings to date (it reached a peak of 11 million viewers) and it's generally cited as one of the Time Lord's greatest adventures ever as it's basically as weird and wonderful as Doctor Who comes. It ended with the Doctor and his companions flying Earth home, for God's sake. What's not to love?! It was also the culmination of an epic era, too, as showrunner Russell T Davies' last series finale and one of David Tennant's final episodes as the almighty Tenth Doctor. They certainly went out with a bang.
