Doctor Who: 10 Biggest Plot Holes Of The Revived Series So Far

8. Frozen In An Instant of Time?

BBC

In The Day of the Doctor, the Doctors came up with a clever plan to save their home planet by moving it into a pocket universe. It basically involved freezing it in "an instant of time, safe and hidden away"...

Only that doesn't really make any sense now, does it? It was the 50th anniversary special, of course, and the Doctor saving Galifrey is probably the biggest resolution of a character arc since the revived series began. Clearly everyone would remember how the Doctor saved Gallifrey so imagine their surprise when, in the very next episode, it was revealed that the Time Lords were sending a message through all of space and time from the pocket universe they were confined in.

But how could the Time Lords send messages throughout all of space and time if they were supposedly "frozen in an instant in time"? In most cases the answer would be, "Steven Moffat is just making it up as he goes a long", but there is no excuse this time.

The episode was about the 11th Doctor's fall, in the fields of Trenzalore, where no living creature can speak falsely or fail to answer. It was an event that's been planned and hyped up since Steven Moffat took over the reigns as Doctor Who's showrunner so why would he suddenly introduce this concept of the Time Lords being "frozen in time" if he was always going to tell the story of the Time Lords sending a message to the Doctor? It's enough to give you a timey-wimey headache.
