Doctor Who: 10 Characters From Other TV Shows Who Would Make Terrible Companions

8. Mitchell Pritchett €“ Modern Family

mitch Since the departure of Captain Jack, the TARDIS has been missing some flamboyance. Recently, the Doctor has only seemed to travel with pretty, young women and occasionally €“ their doting boyfriends. It would be nice to have another homosexual character, who could act as a role model for children, telling them that being gay is an accepted choice. Unfortunately, despite being an entertaining addition to Modern Family, Mitch wouldn€™t be so great at doing this. At any sign of homophobia, he€™d launch into a massive lecture, hoping to change people€™s attitudes. This is great, but there€™s a time and a place: in outer-space, on an alien planet, amongst very cross monsters is definitely NOT that. His lectures would surely lead them all to destruction, when they might have just wanted a quiet, peaceful chat to sort it all out. Of course, this is only if he made it onto an alien world in the first place. Apart from having an intense fear of birds, which would mean running back into the TARDIS every time something with wings or a beak appeared, he€™s also quite uptight and overly cautious. Mitch would take up a lot of the time that could be spent on saving the world, assessing whether or not it was safe to step out of the big blue doors, which would surely infuriate the Doctor. The best option for Mitch would definitely be staying at home with his partner, Cameron and daughter, Lily. He can be over cautious and lecture however much he wants to there, without causing the destruction of alien civilisations.
