Doctor Who: 10 Characters From Other TV Shows Who Would Make Terrible Companions

6. Bridget Hennessy €“ 8 Simple Rules

bridget We€™ve all seen Kaley Cuoco playing Penny onThe Big Bang Theory, but before that she was Bridget on 8 Simple Rules. To a certain extent they€™re the same character (Bridget€™s just a few years younger) but where Penny€™s got a tom-boy streak from her Nebraska upbringing and a bunch of geeks for friends; Bridget definitely doesn€™t €“ she€™s a girly girl, through and through. It is this slight difference that would turn her from someone who may be quite helpful to the Doctor (if she could only put down the wine) into an absolute nightmare in the TARDIS. With Bridget on board, the roles would be completely reversed: the Doc wouldn€™t be able to get a word in edgeways. Unfortunately for viewers, instead of a cool scientific theory or a heart-felt, moving speech, they€™d have to listen to Bridget babbling on about some guy who happened to look at her while she wore THAT skirt, THIS top and THOSE shoes and then she€™d spend the 45 minute run-time analysing what it was supposed to MEAN! By this time the Daleks have probably taken over the entire universe. For the time that she didn€™t spend talking the Doctor€™s ear off or surgically attached to her phone (I pity her Mum when she receives the bill!), she wouldn€™t exactly get stuck in and help. A good assistant is supposed to be selfless, but unless it involved meeting a cute guy or out-doing younger sister, Kerry; Bridget wouldn€™t really try. And the only thing she really cares about €“ her looks €“ wouldn€™t be much help either. She€™d spend hours showering, applying make-up and dancing around in a new outfit before stepping out of the TARDIS, ready to be adored; only to discover that nasty aliens hell-bent on destruction won€™t stop their evil ways for a flutter of mascara-covered lashes and a pout of glossy lips.
