Doctor Who: 10 Characters Who Should Return For Russell T Davies New Series

Ace was a classic companion alongside the Seventh Doctor, and she became a firm fan favourite. She loved blowing things up and was the first classic companion to become a blueprint of what modern companions should be.

Russell brought back favourite companions Sarah Jane Smith, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Jo Grant throughout his era. Sarah Jane first appeared in Doctor Who but went on to have her own series where the other aforementioned classic companions appeared too. Ace had been planned, but sadly never made it to the series because Lis Sladen passed away before her episode could be made.

Sophie Aldred has returned to the Whoniverse most recently in a trailer for the Season 26 Blu-ray collection. It featured her reprising her role as Ace, who's now in charge of A Charitable Earth, where she works as a "sort-of intergalactic Greenpeace activist". Aldred also wrote a book, At Childhood's End, about the character.

She remains a frequently recurring character in Big Finish audios and is still a popular character among fans. Since Russell didn't get his big chance to bring her back before, now would be the perfect time to do it. We might even get a spin-off for her.

Simon is a writer, cat dad and presenter of a geeky radio show with his husband. He loves Doctor Who (except 10 who can get in the bin…only joking.) He idolises Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lara Croft and would 100% be a Sith Lord in a galaxy far, far away. He wishes life was like a musical so he’d actually be a good singer.
