The Daleks are the Doctor's longest-standing and most fearsome foes and they have put fear in to the hearts of millions of viewers of the classic show Doctor Who - indeed, the term "hiding behind the sofa" has become almost synonymous with the mutated descendants of the Kaleds from the planet Skaro. With their super-intelligence, their deadly weapons, their near-impenetrable forcefields and keenness to "exterminate", they are almost unchallenged in the Whoniverse - apart from when the Doctor is around, of course. Indeed, so formidable are the Daleks that Dalek Sec of the Cult of Skaro believed that one Dalek could destroy five million of the Cybermen - the Doctor's second most fearsome foes ("We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek!").
