Doctor Who: 10 Historical Events To Steer Clear Of

3. The Vietnam War

vietnamhelicopters A brutal war that will always be remembered, but should not have a place in Doctor Who. America stepped in to a war going on between North and South Vietnam. But this was not the best thing. There were over one hundred cases of U.S soldiers torturing civilian prisoners in numerous ways. There were also numerous sexual assaults and deaths. All of these not suitable to be seen on a show such as Doctor Who. Doctor Who has it's own image. It's an image of fantasy, but mainly of science fiction and time travel. Yes, the Doctor can go back to historical times. But in the cases of war, it's best to be put aside and left for someone else. Unless they choose another point of view. But it's difficult to do a story of war without the grisly bits, and Doctor Who always stayed away from being excessively gory like movies tend to be.
