Doctor Who: 10 "Loose End" Characters We Want Tied Up

2. Jenny

Why? She clearly is out there, and at least WAS part of the plan at some point. Why not? Again, why not? (Unless she's Clara - Duh- duh- DAAAAHH!!!!!) So, fun behind the scenes fact - Georgia Moffatt has more stake in Doctor Who than you imagined. It's not just that she married David Tennant, and is now mother to Time Tots. It's not that her dad answers to the name "Peter Davison", and is one and the same with the guy who tolerated Tegan Jovanka and Adric as the Doctor. And it isn't even that she played the titular role in "The Doctor's Daughter" as a genetically engineered offspring from 10. It's the fact that her character lived and flew out into the universe at the specific request of one man: Steven Moffat.
So, to explain: Jenny, a machine replicated Time Lord from the Doctor's genetic info, survived the events of "The Doctor's Daughter" and went out to do her own adventuring and "running" due to Steven Moffat wanting a bit of that for later. He had a plan. And for some reason, NO ONE has followed up with him about this. Jenny is beyond a loose end - she's literally an entire narrative waiting to be pursued. In fact, of all the characters on the list, her connections (both professional and familial) make her EXTREMELY easy to bring around. She's a Time Lord, so even a one-shot commitment would make it easy to bring her back, put us up to speed on where she's been, and then regenerate her into someone more long-term. Or not. The brilliance of Jenny is that she could have any integration into the program, be it one-episode, recurring, or series companion. And what a worthwhile integration! Happily "off the menu" for the Doctor means that she could have her own set of hang-ups, complication, development - The possiblities are endless. Jenny is simply the best candidate for a return in any form or purpose on the New Series - The only reason she isn't #1 is the fact there's a certain fan-favourite around the corner. And of course, there is the other reason Moffat seems to have forgotten why he insisted on inheriting the possibility of Jenny into his producership: Maybe he's already got a plan and is trying to quietly let us forget her as a possibility for someone he's made quite clear the Doctor has met prior to the events of "Asylum of the Daleks".
Likelihood We'll Ever See Her Again: 6.5/10

In a parallel universe where game shows' final jackpots and consequent fortunes depend on knowledge of obscure music trivia and Jon Pertwee/Tom Baker Doctor Who episodes, I've probably gone rich, insane, and am now a powermad despot. But happily we're not there, so I'm actually rather pleasant. Really.
