Doctor Who: 10 Most Controversial Mythos Changes Of NuWho

1. The Time War

Talking about the Time War, it's time to move on to the biggest change to the lore of the series from the revival. The Time War has been so pervasive since 2005 that some new series fans are suprised to discover that it's actually only a new series thing. It was Russell T Davies' major brainchild when revitalising the series for a new audience, and it allowed for the revival to start with more or less a clean slate. Fans were reintroduced to the Doctor, now the last of his kind as the result of a great war in time. Gradually, viewers' discovered the Doctor's role within the war, which added a sense of mystery back to the character as fans once again didn't know everything - nay, anything - about him. The main thing, though, was that the Time War allowed the writers an excuse to ignore all the baggage that came with a series with a decades-long heritage. They didn't have to explain everything immediately, didn't have to introduce the Time Lords, the Daleks, the Cybermen and who knows what else all in one go. This allowed a greater accessibility for new fans and gave the show a platform from which it could continue to thrive. 10 years later, it's not doing too badly! What did you think of this list?
