Doctor Who: 10 Most Powerful Daleks Ever

1. Davros

The Dalek who started it all...

The creator of the Daleks, Davros was more Dalek than any of his 'children'. Manipulative, bloodthirsty, seemingly impossible to kill and absolutely tyrannical - it was Davros' teachings that inspired his creations to persist.

Constantly surviving and assisting in the Daleks' attempts to conquer the universe as the supreme beings, Davros is the worst of the worst.

First appearing in 1975's Genesis of the Daleks, the evil Kaled scientist designed the Daleks as both weapons and travel machines to help his race sustain life in Skaro's radiated atmosphere. Despite turning on him various times, the Daleks ultimately worship and revere their creator, and he has witnessed most Dalek conquests.

In 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Davros even became the Imperial Faction's Emperor. Encased in a domed helmet, by this period, he was nothing more than a head and some cables.

In NuWho, Davros has returned with his creations, even donating his cells to keep his race alive. Dying on Skaro in The Magician's Apprentice/The Witch's Familiar, Davros controlled the Dalek City on Skaro with his children serving him in his final days.

In these final days, he remembered his first encounter with the Doctor - the Twelfth incarnation - during his childhood on Skaro. Even with the Doctor preaching compassion and mercy to the young Davros, his Daleks still evolved to be hateful, callous monsters who are never truly defeated.

The Daleks may outgrow their 'father', but they can't escape that they came from him.
