Doctor Who: 10 Most Underrated Tenth Doctor Episodes
5. The Shakespeare Code
Doctor Who episodes set in the past are always well executed owing to the BBC’s knack for nailing historical settings.
Given the popularity of historical episodes such as ‘The Girl in the Fireplace’ and the two-part story consisting of ‘Human Nature’ and ‘The Family of Blood’, ‘The Shakespeare Code’ can sometimes be overlooked.
One of the standout elements of this episode is how scary it is. The three Carrionites are some of the most frightening villains to have ever featured on the show due to some great performances, makeup, and prosthetics.
The dialogue between the Doctor, Martha, and Shakespeare is also a highlight. These scenes help maintain the show’s fun factor despite the creepy spectacle of the Carrionites.
Granted, the ending is a little too quick and underwhelming, but the general standard of this episode is extremely high.
