Doctor Who: 10 One-Off Villains That Need To Return

The Beast With Doctor Who€™s history rapidly approaching the fifty year milestone, it€™s obvious that there are some villains who have only had one appearance. Occasionally, some do get a second airing such as giant crabs the Macra appearing in Series 3 Episode 3 and the ultimately aborted plans to include sentient cactus Meglos in Series 5 Episode 11. With any luck some villains like reptilian pantomime horse the Myrka (Warriors Of The Deep) and Bertie Bassett droid the Kandyman (The Happiness Patrol) will never be seen again but there are others that definitely deserve at least a second appearance. So as part two of my monthly countdown to the fiftieth anniversary, here are 10 One-off Villains Who Should Return...

10. The Movellans €“ Destiny Of The Daleks (1979)

Doctor Who Movellans

Okay I know they look unbelievably stupid even by the standards of 70s Who but despite looking like the animatronics from a Disneyland ride about Boney M, the android Movellans are actually an interesting species that might do well from being revisited. The conceit of an entirely logical race has been explored before with the Cybermen and the Daleks but the Movellans are something of a different take on the idea, partly because of their vulnerability to a lack of logic but also because of their attempts to conceal the fact that they androids. Though of course, for anyone who€™s seen Destiny Of The Daleks, the surprise of that revelation is long gone. Plus, they€™re one of very few species that have managed to win a war against the Daleks, and have technology that can ignite a planet€™s atmosphere and rip the planet apart. As daft as they look, they€™ve got some real potential and could still become a strong enemy for the Doctor. As long as they lose the silver dreadlocks and install their power source somewhere other than the outside of their waists. For a completely logical race, not a smart move.
