Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Big Finish Is Better Than The TV Series

2. Make 'Em Laugh

Humour has always been a vital component of Doctor Who but Big Finish has taken the absurdity of the show to a degree that its screen counterpart has never quite managed. From the premise of a battle robot run by HR staff (who believe they€™re working in an office and never quite see how strange the tasks they€™re asked to do actually are) to the sheer oddity of the Eighth Doctor running €œauditions€ for his next companion (the brilliant Situation Vacant), the audio adventures manage to encapsulate the spirit of Doctor Who whilst puncturing the potential pomposity of a show which features such a morally upright protagonist. Doctor Who has always done satire and oddity, of course, and Big Finish delivers it in bucket loads.
