Doctor Who: 10 Reasons Christopher Eccleston Is The Best Doctor

5. His Coolness Is Understated

Every Doctor has his own style but he does has a deft hand at making himself look quite peculiar. His latest love for cool hats comes after carrying oddly marketable umbrellas, polka dot jackets and wearing a stick of celery which identifies poisonous gases. You would've thought that travelling through time and space would've shown him something better than the vegetable equivalent of carrying a canary in a mine, but the budget for the show never did used to be that big. The ninth incarnation of the Doctor initially wants to keep a low profile, not really feeling the globe-trotting spirit after annihilating two whole species. It is understated, but everything about it reinforces Eccleston's portrayal. He's straight forward, serious and rarely jokes. Buzz cut. Black leather jacket. Casual, but cool. Essentially, if you saw the entire platoon of Doctor regenerations walking down the street, only Eccleston doesn't look like someone in costume.
