It's now common knowledge that Clara Oswald is full of surprises but, way back when, she managed to shock the Doctor Who fandom to its core when she made an unannounced appearance in the Series 7 premiere, Asylum of the Daleks, three whole months before her expected Christmas Day debut. Eager beaver. Thus began one of the biggest mysteries that sci-fi has ever known and, with our soufflé girl at the centre of it, Clara quickly established herself as one of the most intriguing and popular companions in Doctor Who history. She definitely got people talking and her introduction was a breath of fresh air compared to the more traditional companion narrative arcs. Not only did the Doctor keep on meeting her in different time periods, but she kept on dying which made the whole affair even more confusing. A mystery wrapped in a enigma, squeezed into a skirt that's just a little bit too... Let's not even go there.
