Doctor Who: 10 Special Effects That Totally Sucked

10. The Wheelie Bin

On the whole, the special effects in the revived version of the show have been good, a bigger budget and the improvements in CGI giving NuWho a sheen the old show rarely ever had. However, although fans and casual viewers alike look back fondly on opener Rose, it contains a few shonky moments and a couple of really bad effects. Looking back now, Rose has a large amount of slapstick with most of it centred around hapless Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke). His plastic Mickey is bad enough but the wheelie bin is just terrible. It's the combination of the animated bin, the over exaggerated acting of Clarke and the blunder of the SFX guys not noticing that when Mickey turns around, his stuck fingers should cross each other. The bin burp does a good job of making the viewer quickly forget but the bin is Rose's truly naff moment.
