Doctor Who: 10 Special Effects That Totally Sucked

6. The Wall

Many of the effects on this list were known to be bad by the makers at the time but the crippling combination of lack of money and lack of time meant that they'd have to carry on, teeth gritted, knowing it would look terrible. With the electricians waiting to turn off the lights at 10pm, sometimes you just had to let a terrible effect go through. The Invisible Enemy isn't the greatest Doctor Who story and it features a monster that looks like a fat prawn. It also features an infamous moment when robot pooch K-9 has to blast away a chunk of wall that has obviously been done already and hastily stuck back together again when director Derrick Sherwin asked for a retake. Unfortunately, the poor special effects team had about 30 seconds to stick it up again.
