Doctor Who: 10 Tear-Jerking Moments Of The Revived Series
2. The Fallen Rose (Doomsday)
In Series 2, a companion's fate was truly sealed. Rose Tyler was going to die. Technically, anyway. Caught amidst the fateful Battle of Canary Wharf and the ultimate showdown of Cybermen vs Daleks, Rose was inevitably thrown into the Doctor's plan. She was sucked into the opening rift and ended up trapped within a parallel world forever more. Or so she thought at the time, anyway. To make things even more heartbreaking, the Tenth Doctor gave everything in his power to see her one last time and even burnt up a sun just to say goodbye to her, which is a pretty nice gesture indeed. Rose's confession of love on Bad Wolf Bay is one of the revived series' most memorable moments to date and the audience knew exactly what the Doctor wanted to say but understood he'd never be able to say it. If only he had a human version to do it for him...
