Doctor Who: 10 Things About NuWho That Don't Quite Add Up

10. How Old Is He Again?

Just about every Doctor Who fan can recite the following via muscle memory at this point. "Hello, I'm the Doctor, I'm from the planet Gallifrey, in the constellation Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old..." Etc etc. That line was a favorite of the Tenth Doctor in particular. However, at the time he said it, was he just lying about his age (as he is one to do) or was he simply just confused? After all, his age jumps around so many times that it is hard for anyone to keep up, including the Doctor it seems. Using the 1996 TV Movie as reference, the Doctor has a 900 year diary on a desk in the TARDIS. Using that point as a marker to start from (attempting to deduce his age using material further back in Classic Who would be even more headache inducing!), it can be approximated that his age is around 900. If the Seventh Doctor was 900 at the time of his regeneration, and the Eighth Doctor was visibly aged by the time of his regeneration at the beginning of the Time War, how could the 10th, who was just two regenerations later (War Doctor, then Ninth), be only 3 years older than the Seventh? The show has done well to bring his approximate age closer to where it should be, though. The current Doctor has stated that he has lived for over 2000 years which, including the time the Eleventh Doctor defended Trenzalore, is more accurate than the number 10 was tossing around.
