Doctor Who: 10 Things We Want in an Anniversary Special

8. All Living Doctor and/or Companion Actors in Different Roles

THE WISH Back a few years ago, for the 40th anniversary, Big Finish released a story called €œZagreus€. It starred€well, pretty much everyone. Paul McGann played the 8th Doctor, with India Fisher playing his then-current companion, along with Lalla Ward as the Second Romana and Louise Jameson as Leela. Interesting enough, but then it also featured other actors, like Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Nicholas Courtney, Sophie Aldred, Nicola Bryant, etc, etc. Basically just about every living Doctor and companion, but here€™s the interesting thing: they weren€™t playing Doctors or companions. They all had very different roles. This could be something interesting, and it means that if it were done on TV, they wouldn€™t have to worry about explaining why the various Doctors look older than when they regenerated. It could also be just a lot of fun and wouldn€™t bury new Who audience members in tons of continuity they won€™t get. ODDS OF THIS HAPPENING Low, but plausible. Probably around 15 €“ 20%. There is precedence with the audio story, and Moffat is certainly aware of those, even if he isn€™t embracing the spin-offs as much as Davies did. But a story like this, where perhaps the Doctor is hallucinating all these people who look like versions of him or his companions, could be right up Moffat€™s alley.
