Remember in The Giggle when Kate Stewart mentions facing Yeti? That hasn't happened onscreen, has it? Well, yes it has, in the unofficial straight-to-video Doctor Who movie, Downtime, starring Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, and Deborah Watling as Victoria Waterfield.

Written by Marc Platt, Downtime was the third entry in the Great Intelligence trilogy, with the villain using computer technology to once more take over the world.

Downtime also introduced Beverly Cressman as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart, the Brigadier's estranged daughter, and Alexander Landen as Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, the Brigadier's grandson.

In Downtime, Kate reaches out to the Brig after she's harassed by some university students that are under the control of the Great Intelligence, who's about to unleash the Yeti on London for a second time.

After defeating the Yeti with her father, Cressman's Kate Stewart returned nine years later in the 2004 direct-to-DVD film Daemos Rising, an unofficial sequel to the Doctor Who serial The Daemons.

Presumably, these experiences with some of the Brigadier's old enemies inspired her to follow in her father's footsteps in the 17 years between Downtime's 1995 release and The Power of Three's broadcast in 2012!
