Long before he was the Doctor, David Tennant was a jobbing actor, who had a steady stream of work at Big Finish as a voice actor. Here, one of Tennant's most notable roles was Colonel Brimmicombe-Wood, one of the Brigadier's successors at UNIT.

Brimmicombe-Wood made his debut in 2003's audio drama Sympathy for the Devil, an alternate-universe story that pondered what would've happened if the Third Doctor was exiled to Earth in the 1990s instead of the 1970s.

When Big Finish launched its own UNIT spinoff soon after, they introduced Brimmicombe-Wood's prime universe counterpart, still played by David Tennant.

The plot involves UNIT's UK arm falling into utter disarray, with the team seeking out the assistance of the Brigadier. Brimmicombe-Wood is ultimately outed as a plant, intent on replacing UNIT with the brutal and oppressive Internal Counter-Intelligence Service.

David Tennant was great as a shouty, snarling military man, and perfectly encapsulated what an evil version of UNIT's beloved Brigadier would be like.
